One ugly truth about humans
Feynman once said, “We are getting closer to intelligent machines, but they are showing the necessary weaknesses of intelligence.”
Which got me thinking about the exponential progress of AI vs. the logarithmic development of humans.
In the first instance, a software bug is fixed when the code is updated. In other words, “the errors, flaws, or faults in the computer program — or system — that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways”, is quickly brought up to date.
On the other hand, humankind has historically shown that the bugs in our operating systems, whether physical, mental, social, or any other characteristic relating to the existence or coexistence of homo sapiens, are usually never fixed, but slowly or slightly modified.
Now, this is important because it could be the premise of many conversations in many levels; I’d love to keep thinking about them, because we are building systems that are clearly superior to us in many ways, while trying to reason about them by supporting beliefs with arguments from a buggy code. So, I also encourage you to think about it.
Is the ‘intelligent machine’ beginning to display the fundamental flaws of human nature in a way that will make us obsolete? Please, you tell me…(let’s chat)
